Uninterruptible power supply (ups) An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system is a device that is capable of providing a continuous and high quality power supply to a critical load irrespective of aberrations that can appear on the mains (spikes, harmonics, switching pulses, micro cuts, etc…) and to ensure a long term supply of energy in case of a mains outage. This must of course happen without the slightest interruption to the critical load protected.
